Where it starts

A place to understand what is happening — and decide what to do about it

Asking for help is hard. The thought of sitting down and talking about what you are going through can feel overwhelming or intimidating, both for the person struggling and for their family. But it is a crucial life decision, and it is usually the point where things begin to change.

My therapeutic approach helps people establish healthy relationships around them and improve their quality of life through self-knowledge and self-acceptance. I work with people marked by an event, past or present, that led them to poor emotional management or to self-destructive behaviours such as alcohol and drug abuse.

About Hugo

The process

How we work

  1. 01

    Free assessment

A no-commitment conversation to understand your situation and your needs. I listen, I ask, and I tell you plainly whether I can help and how.

  2. 02

    A plan

We set concrete goals, how often we meet and in what format: online, in person in Miami, or a combination. Everything adapts to your pace and your life.

  3. 03

    Individual sessions

One-to-one therapy. We combine different techniques depending on what you need: emotional work, relapse prevention, anger management, self-esteem or relationship dynamics.

  4. 04

    Family and follow-up

Where it makes sense, I work with the family too. Once the goals are met we keep a follow-up in place to consolidate progress and prevent relapse.

FAQ

What people ask me most

What is the free assessment?

It is a first conversation, free and with no commitment, to assess your situation. You tell me what is happening, I ask what I need to understand it, and I tell you honestly whether I can help, how I would approach it and how long a process like this usually takes. If I think you need a different kind of resource, I will say so and point you towards it. The therapy sessions that follow do have a fee, which I explain clearly before we start.

Does online therapy work as well as in person?

For most problems, yes: what matters most for the outcome is the trust between us and the way we work, and both build just as well over video. All you need is a stable connection and somewhere you can talk without being overheard. If you prefer, we can also combine online sessions with sessions at the Miami office.

Is it confidential?

Absolutely. I guarantee the privacy and anonymity of every person and their family. What is said in session stays in session.

Do you accept health insurance?

No. Therapy is private pay: I do not work with insurance companies or process claims.
