Privacy policy

1. Who handles your data
Hugo Herrera, certified addiction and mental health professional, practising in Miami, Florida. Contact details for any privacy matter are on the contact page of this site.
2. What is collected
Only two things. First: what you voluntarily send through the form or the quick-contact button — your name, your email address, your phone number if you give one, the subject you select, your preferred format and the message you write. Second: the technical logs any web server produces when serving a page, that is IP address, date and time, page requested and browser type. Third: our own cookie-free visit statistics (page viewed, where you came from, language and device type); to count unique visitors an anonymous identifier is used that changes every day and cannot tell who you are.
3. What it is used for
Form data is used exclusively to answer your enquiry and, if you decide to begin a process, to arrange and manage appointments. Technical logs keep the site running and help detect abuse. There is no advertising, no profiling, no sale or transfer of data to third parties for commercial purposes, and you are not added to any mailing list unless you ask.
4. Legal basis
Processing what you send through the form rests on your consent, given when you tick the box before sending, and on the pre-contractual steps needed to handle your request. Technical logs rest on the legitimate interest of keeping the service secure. If you write from the European Union or the United Kingdom, these are the GDPR bases; if you write from the United States, the relevant state and federal rules apply.
5. Confidentiality and professional privilege
Anything you share is treated in strict confidence, within the professional confidentiality that covers therapeutic practice. Even so, a web form is not the place to pour out sensitive clinical detail: say enough for me to point you in the right direction, and keep the rest for the session, where it is genuinely protected.
6. Who else sees your data
Dinahosting S.L., the site's hosting provider, acting as a processor and handling the data only to deliver the service. Nobody else. No third-party analytics, no external chat and no advertising systems are used: visit statistics are our own and stay on the server.
7. Where it is stored
On Dinahosting servers located in Spain, within the European Union. If you write from the United States or elsewhere, your data travels there so that you can be replied to, protected by the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
8. How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to a therapeutic process are deleted once handled and after a reasonable period in case you get back in touch. If you become a patient, the record is kept for the period required by the rules applicable to clinical records in Florida.
9. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. The form carries a security token that prevents a third party from submitting it in your name, and a bot trap. Access to the messages received is restricted and password protected.
10. Your rights
You may at any time ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to processing or receive a copy in a portable format, and you may withdraw any consent you have given. Just write to the email address on the contact page. You will get an answer within thirty days at most. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
11. Minors
This site is not aimed at anyone under 18 and no data is knowingly collected from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has submitted data, write in and it will be deleted.
12. Cookies
Only technical cookies are used, needed for the form to work and to remember that you have seen the notice. The detail is in the cookie policy.
13. Health insurance
Hugo Herrera does not work with insurance companies or process claims or reimbursements. Your information is therefore never shared with any insurer: it stays between you and your therapist, under professional confidentiality.
14. Changes
This policy may be updated. The date of the latest revision appears at the top of the page.
